SynopsisBuilding upon the foundation established in the first arts course, this course encourages further in- depth exploration of the five arts subjects: Dance, Drama, Media Arts, Music and Visual Arts through to the end of year 6. It provides pre-service teachers with the skills to both teach the Arts and to also understand how to integrate arts-based approaches to assist teaching in key learning areas of the Australian Curriculum such as: English, Mathematics, Humanities and Social Sciences, Technologies, Health and Physical Education and Languages. Students will experience praxis-based learning approaches through the semester, where they will engage in hands-on arts experiences that help to experience course theory and curriculum in action. By the end of the course learning experiences, students will produce a portfolio of integrated arts tasks suitable for students in upper primary years, through which they will develop confidence to teach with, about, in and through the arts.
