<p>The aim of this course is to develop a detailed understanding of Senior Mathematics Curriculum. Pre-service teachers will develop a detailed understanding of the conceptual underpinnings of Mathematics as a discipline and the expectations of the various Senior Mathematics syllabi. (Essential Mathematics, General Mathematics, Mathematical Methods and Specialist Mathematics). By developing a detailed understanding of the signature pedagogies for their subject, with a particular focus on inquiry approaches for the diverse range of learning needs amongst senior secondary learners, pre-service teachers will be prepared to plan, assess and report on student learning in Senior Mathematics courses. This course provides the opportunity for preservice teachers to learn how Mathematics subject’s content, pedagogy and curriculum fit and work together to provide effective learning opportunities which develop active and informed citizens of our global community.</p>
