SynopsisThis course provides an introduction to the common conditions that affect individuals from the start of adulthood to middle age. This course addresses the epidemiology, aetiology, and pathophysiology of common and important cardiovascular, metabolic, pulmonary, musculoskeletal, neuromuscular, renal, mental health, and cancer conditions found in adult populations up to middle age. Students will develop knowledge and skills to provide expert exercise assessment and testing, prescription of exercise interventions, and monitoring of adult clients' progress throughout the prescribed exercise.
Additionally, this course will enable students to build fundamental and generic skills that underpin the practice of exercise physiology in Australia. This course contains a mandatory residential school. To pass this course, students must attend 80% of the residential school. Student non-compliance with the attendance requirement will mean the student cannot pass the course.

Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, graduates will be able to:
1.
Explain and further investigate the epidemiology, aetiology and pathophysiology of common and important cardiovascular, metabolic, pulmonary, musculoskeletal, neuromuscular, renal, mental health, and cancer conditions found in adults to middle age.
2.
Describe and analyse design, delivery and evaluation of clinical exercise tests and interventions for adult clients.
3.
Interpret medical tests, interventions, and treatments in relation to exercise and functional capacities.
4.
Prepare and interpret written professional reports suitable for medical and allied health referral and critically evaluate the role of multidisciplinary interventions on client outcomes.

2. Exercise assessment, intervention and management for conditions that affect adults to middle age.
Assessments
Assessment due dates (as listed in Week Due) are indicative until finalised by the end of Week 1 for each Study Period (Offering). After Week 1, Assessment due dates may change with the approval of the Dean (Academic) or Delegate in limited circumstances. All Assessment due date changes approved after Week 1 will be communicated to students accordingly via Handbook and StudyDesk.
