SynopsisThis is a foundation level course designed to provide students with the framework and skills to succeed in tertiary level studies.

The course offers a variety of topics to allow students to develop their own bespoke learning journey that builds on their existing life experience and skills. Topics are across key success areas, including study foundations, assessment, study skills and future planning, including professional identity development.

Students will also participate in regular online learning communities, lead by their Peers.

Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of this course, graduates will be able to:

Identify key features of university culture and characteristics for academic, digital and cultural literacies that underpin disciplinary practices in university learning environments

Apply critical, strategic and reflective thinking skills to select and apply suitable active learning and study strategies to effectively negotiate a variety of academic learning task demands

Apply critical and reflective thinking skills to analyse academic performance, experiences and evaluate responses to learning challenges
5.
Compile evidence to reflect upon personal/academic transformation or growth

Topics

This is a foundation level course designed to provide students with the framework and skills to transition to a 'university student' identity mindset.

Students will explore a wide range of topics to develop their skills as a university student.

Assessments

Assessment due dates (as listed in Week Due) are indicative until finalised by the end of Week 1 for each Study Period (Offering). After Week 1, Assessment due dates may change with the approval of the Dean (Academic) or Delegate in limited circumstances. All Assessment due date changes approved after Week 1 will be communicated to students accordingly via Handbook and StudyDesk.
