Practical

1.	The due date for an assignment is the date by which a student must despatch the assignment to the UniSQ. Students must retain a copy of each item submitted for assessment purposes. Such copies should be despatched to the UniSQ within 24 hours of receipt of a request to do so.

All submissions must be made through the Assignment Drop Box located on the UniSQ StudyDesk for this course, unless directed otherwise by the Examiner of the course. Online students are able to use the on-campus student computer laboratories once access has been enabled. To be granted access, Online students need to contact ICT and ask to have a student account enabled so that they can work on-campus.
4.	Students are expected to open their university provided email account and check it regularly for personal communication. This course introduces Master of Strength and Conditioning students to the advanced principles of program design for speed and aerobic endurance conditioning for a variety of athletic populations from field and court-based sports to distance endurance events. This course builds on the knowledge gained from the Scientific Principles of Strength and Conditioning and Advanced courses, providing students with in-depth industry-relevant theoretical and practical knowledge across a number of key areas including factors influencing speed and aerobic endurance performance and development, specific physiological training adaptations, and application of technology and training program variables to optimise speed and aerobic endurance development and performance throughout an annual periodization plan. There is also an emphasis on the application of the course material via integrated-learning opportunities and practical skill development, in order to help students understand how to apply the course material to real-world athletic populations from various athletic backgrounds.

This course contains a mandatory residential school of 3.5 days. The residential school provides students opportunity to learn and apply practical skills relevant to the course content, use of on-campus facilities and to meet staff and other students. Attendance is required. It is the students' responsibility to attend and participate appropriately in all activities scheduled for them, and to study all material provided to maximise their chance of meeting the objectives of the course and to be informed of course-related activities. Student non-compliance with the attendance requirement will mean the student cannot pass the course.

Describe the various types of speed (including acceleration, change of direction and agility) and aerobic endurance training programs available including the interaction of program variables such as frequency, duration and intensity.

Outline and describe in detail the physiological adaptations to speed and aerobic endurance training.

Analyse, describe and select the mode and type of speed and/or aerobic endurance training applicable to a designated sport.

Effectively apply the program variables in the design of speed and aerobic endurance conditioning programs in different athletic populations throughout an annual periodization plan.

Outline and explain the underlying factors that influence speed and aerobic endurance performance and conditioning in athletic populations.

Determine the best methods to prescribe and monitor speed and aerobic endurance development including training load.
