SynopsisThe `tyranny of distance' term has been widely used to describe difficulties faced by Australians living in regional, rural and remote areas to access health, educational and social services. Difficulties have been observed in recruitment and retention of health professionals to rural areas, and in the provision of services. Health outcomes are demonstrably poorer.
Digital solutions provide an important means for providing access to quality health care services and for supporting health practitioner service providers in rural areas. During the pandemic, there was a rapid uptake of digital health technologies to enable the provision of all levels of health care, from primary care through to rehabilitation care. There is an expectation by employers that allied health students will be well versed in digital health methodologies upon graduation.
This course establishes an understanding of the role and scope of digital health in contemporary allied health services by building upon foundational knowledge of the allied health professions. APPROVED FOR FIRST OFFER 2024
