SynopsisThis specialisation course allows pre-service teachers to build on knowledge of the Australian Curriculum: The Arts by utilising an integrated approach to the four interrelated strands. The course offers additional depth of understanding across the five arts forms (Drama, Dance, Media Arts, Visual Arts and Music) through an exploration of significant historical movements within the Arts which will enhance content knowledge, pedagogical knowledge and confidence in teaching the Arts from K-6.
Underpinned by principles of supporting the creative, inquiring and imaginative child, this course explores the interrelationships between the Arts and how they are uniquely placed to document the complexities of human experience and help children connect to the contemporary world.

Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, graduates will be able to:
1.
demonstrate understanding of the content, substance and structure of the Arts to facilitate student learning across the K-6 level (APST 2.1, 2.3);
- Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the concepts, substance and structure of the content and teaching strategies of the teaching area.
- Use curriculum, assessment and reporting knowledge to design learning sequences and lesson plans.

demonstrate a range of strategies to design learning sequences that engage students to connect the Arts with historical and contemporary events (APST 2.2, 3.2, 3.3);

Assessments
