Accounting as a teaching area fits within the learning area of Humanities and Social Sciences. Once employed, students would be expected to teach Years 11 and 12 Accounting, as well as Years 7 – 10 Economics and Business.
Recommended prior study: Accounting in Years 11 and 12.
This teaching area provides a background in financial and other information for making and evaluating decisions about the allocation of scarce resources. A comprehensive accounting system is central to assisting in the discharge of accountability and to the development and maintenance of the financial control of business organisations. Accounting information helps to evaluate performance and to report on the operation of an organisation from both an internal and external perspective.
